Lawyers are not all scum as far as I am concerned. There are lawyers who are working to fix our many problems. My story is not a “sob” story. It is a sad story of what can happen when the law is abused by a sociopath with a law degree. My experience is far too common. I am not self pitying or a cry baby. I have a very good life. I do take responsibility for my self. You do not know me so cannot know if you know someone like me. I did not rip off my brother or embezzle the estate. I am a victim of my brother and his lawyer. I wrote the entry that you are responding to in 2009. Since that time, I have heard similar stories from far too many others. I really do not care to “convince” any one that I’ve been wronged. I shared my story because it is important for people to speak up so that we might have a chance of fixing a broken justice system. It is lawyers that will fix that system. Your inability to believe that my story is true suggests that you have not been ensnared in a civil suit in the state of California. Count your blessings. If the idea of me makes you sick, it is only your idea. It does not effect me.

Give me a break!! To listen to you tell it, you are this perfectly innocent woman who problems in life are all someone else’s fault. I mean, Yeah, lawyers are ALL scum, but you’re a self pitying cry baby. Get a life, grow up and take some responsibility for yourself. I think we all know someone like you – probably ripped off your brother by embezzling from the estate, and you’ve convinced yourself that you’re the victim. Now you’re going around with this complicated sob story trying to convince a bunch of total strangers that you’ve been wronged. You make me sick.

I’ve actually begun to think it will be lawyers who will save this country. Out of all of the lawyers I have now had to deal with, there has only been one sociopolitical sadist. The others were helpful, displaying integrity, honesty and caring. There are many lawyers giving of their time – without payment in money – to work for socially important political and environmental causes.

As much as I hate Steven Penrose, my brother’s lawyer, I am very grateful to the others.

The irony of this is that many will employ Penrose just because he is a ruthless lying sadistic sociopath. After all, if one is going to attack a good loving sister or daughter or care giver or teacher, you are more likely to win if you employ a person who loves their job. All others flee as they just don’t have the heart to stand up to a creature like Penrose. Rather than fight they say, “settle” which is what Penrose is counting on. PJ

That sucks. The legal system is too complicated and technical to navigate through, that’s how lawyers makes money, A pro se litigant are treated as you have a lawyer….That does not sound fair, Laywers are definetely paid too much, Their expertise is how to fight others, sometimes like enemy, I do not think that kind of work is much beneficial to the society as a whole, it is often destructive than construstive, does not worth to be paid that much and elevated.
It is sad this country had too much laws, It is too heavy a burden onto itself and hard for a averge guy to obtain Justice, Justice is for rich people?

I just went through two years of harassment by my brother’s attorney. Over 2,000 hours, sometimes more then 40 hours a week went into responding to his demands for disclosure. I sent the same things multiple times. As trustee for my mom’s trust, I experienced that I had no rights as a beneficiary. I was challenged repeatedly on the same issues, had 5 attorneys of my own look over my work and find that I was acting in accordance with the trust and the law.

My brother’s attorney repeatedly threatened and accused me and finally demanded that I do something so unethical that I resigned.

Next, I was petitioned. The petition consisted of 8 false accusations. I knew I had been honest and mistakenly believed that if you are honest and can prove with physical evidence that you have acted in good faith, you have nothing to fear from the law. I represented myself.

As this was now in probate court, none of the trust law or the trust, for that matter had any relevance. I was now held to the same standard as a professional certified trust attorney. I have a high school education.

Each trip to court was over 700 miles from my house. I was never allowed to speak. I was sanctioned $1,000 for not turning over the information that I had proof of service that I’d sent them. This same information was attached to documents filed with the court.

When the bench trial finally happened, I was cautioned to contain myself to the matters of the petition. I was not allowed to object as I listened to opposing council lie during his opening statement. An hour an a half later, I didn’t even know where to start. False accusations going back to before Mom dyed, 38 exhibits, NOTHING BACKED UP WITH PROOF! The judge cautioned that the trial was to go no later then 4:15. The judge allowed my brother’s attorney to go for nearly 2 hours giving his closing argument, stopping him at 4:10. I had 5 minutes to respond to nearly 2 hours of lies.

The judgment: I was found guilty of bad faith for something that I was never accused of or had opportunity to defend my self from. I was to reimburse my evil brother $58,000 for his attorney fees going back to when he first hired the guy. My brother got less then $10,000. My brother’s attorney has cost me nearly $200,000. I have less then $1,000, my cabin and my car. My struggling gift store is my only source of income.

I did finally retain an attorney to ensure that I did the last of this correctly. At $350 per hour, I could not afford to call him to ask a question. I had to let him go hoping I’ll be able to come up with the money to pay his last bill. Since the beginning of May, I have already paid him nearly $20,000.

So, why do I hate attorneys. I don’t hate all attorneys. I hate my brother’s attorney. My brother was the perfect dupe. Half a million dollars inheritance and less then half a brain. This attorney started out by cutting off all communication. He emailed me multiple times daily and sent many of the same things in the mail. He kept anything from getting settled. He stoked the fires of my brother’s resentment that he, the oldest son had not been chosen as trustee. He bent and twisted the law. He used the court to extort tens of thousands of dollars, ruined a family and may succeed in making me homeless. The saddest part is that he has destroyed my belief in the law and this country. I have experienced profound hatred because of my brother’s attorney. So my brother has succeeded. He has given my inheritance to his attorney and he has made a loved one into an enemy.

I hate lawyers. In fact, I fired one yesterday for being lazy and stupid. After three weeks of blood, sweat and playing golf, this idiot sends me an email. He plays the game of peat, repeat and echo. He only tells me what I had told him three weeks earlier. His information about my case is wrong. He spends his time telling me what the other lawyer and his clients proposes. I should have known better than to use this lawyer when he reveal that he and the other lawyer were college buds.

I wrote the S.O.B. an email and asked him what in the hell was he doing? I told him that I did not hire him to represent the other lawyer and his clients to me. I didn’t give a damn about what they proposed. He took almost a $1000.00. I went to his office and told him to his face was a stupid kid that didn’t know how to represent his client. Watch out for these blood sucking, money stealing asshole.

LAWYERs ……… Where do I start. I will keep it simple , a lawyer is a virus with shoes. Now I don’t want you to think I am prejudice because I think everyone should own two lawyes, one to crap on and the other to wipe yourself with.

You know what’s really fun to do? Ask a lawyer if he/she know the 5 things necessary to be a truly honest lawyer. The odds are they’ll say “NO”, then you say, “I didn’t think you would!”
