I'm glad you told this story. It was painful to read but I'm glad I did.

Be safe...

Darling, I had a hard time reading about Chez's brain surgery, even after having lived through it... I didn't think any other medical story would have me holding my breath so much- but this did.

I am waiting for the continuation, and looking forward to hanging out with you again. Keep writing, sweetie...

Chez, Thank you again for the kind words as to Part I. And I shoulda' known that you would pick up on the "Couples" reference. You're my hero.

TK, Thanks kid, you too. That's exactly what I was trying to convey. They actual fall, while devastating psychologically, was but a moment. Even with my tolerance for pain, I still remember the scrubbing being absolutely excruciating, especially the first hour or so before they authorized the use of heavy pain meds.

Tish, Thanks for stopping by! Although I would substitute "courageous" with "stupid."

SM, Thanks for your comments, too. As for the younger guys, I think the key word is "unnecessary." I still skate, surf, snowboard, cycle, etc., but I also rely on my "life wisdom" at this point. If I were not so deathly afraid of heights now, I would probably still go out climbing, but never without safety lines. I know better.

Matt,

I just chewed off my fingernail.

I got stuck once on the back side of the "Ape Wall," as it's called because it was photographed in "THE PLANET OF THE APES." Sweaty hands and not enough chalk, burning forearms and the panic. Jesus! I'm reminded of it now after reading about your experience and of how lucky I was to make it down.

As a stately gentleman, do you half grin when you see the younger generation taking unnecessary risks? I do. They lack perspective. Hopefully, they learn.

That's a long comment, sorry.

Jesus. I thought the time I broke both arms and lost two teeth was the worst accident I'd heard of. Obviously, I was wrong.

But I can sympathize with the cleaning - I had nurses spend two hours cleaning gravel out of my arms, leg and face. It was actually the worst part of the whole thing.

This is a brutal story. Glad you made it out ok. But, um... be a little more careful, huh bud?
