They actual fall, while devastating psychologically, was but a moment. Even with my tolerance for pain, I still remember the scrubbing being absolutely excruciating, especially the first hour or so before they authorized the use of heavy pain meds. I still skate, surf, snowboard, cycle, etc., but I also rely on my "life wisdom" at this point. I'm reminded of it now after reading about your experience and of how lucky I was to make it down. I thought the time I broke both arms and lost two teeth was the worst accident I'd heard of. Obviously, I was wrong. But I <i>can</i> sympathize with the cleaning - I had nurses spend two hours cleaning gravel out of my arms, leg and face. It was actually the worst part of the whole thing. This is a brutal story.
