Silversun Pickups – Lazy Eye
Candidly, I have never heard of this band until about 30 minutes ago. But in that short span, I’ve managed to listen to the following tune about 80-90 times (it’s the bionic hearing, you can thank Oscar Goldman and his crew for that). In that time, I’ve also managed to read up about them on Wikipedia, which itself has little to say other than:
Silversun Pickups (also simply known as SSPU) is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, signed to Dangerbird Records, and headed by Brian Aubert. They released their debut Pikul EP in July of 2005, and their full length album Carnavas on July 26, 2006.
I’m going to do some digging around, but if anyone else has anything to offer up (TK, that means you, buddy) I would welcome further comments and background about the band. In the meantime, take a listen.

UPDATE: Echoing both Coach’s and TK’s comment to this post – holy shit, these guys are good. I’ve listened to nothing but their stuff since I first heard them 2 days ago. Hell, I even got a MySpace page just so I could publicize this song to all 10 of the people I know (well, that and to pick up 25 year old girls, of course).
Seriously, though, as follow up to my earlier inquiry for more information, I have learned much from their official website, which gives their background, representation, production, and touring material, as well as a brief description of their style:
Silversun’s secret weapons are the achingly potent melodies of their songs, which poke their lovely, shy heads out and ultimately proclaim their power in rare shades of melancholic ardor. While so many bands oft-claim supreme melody as the underpinning of their noise, with the Pickups it can claim moral superiority: Silversun radiates palpably great melodies that – the real test – simply won’t leave you alone no matter how you try to shoo them away.
I strongly suggest you visit the band’s MySpace page for a free sampling of other songs (and because they’re my “friends” – together with about 22,000 other people). The band possesses just a fantastic integration of 80′s “pop-rock” melodic chords, 90′s “grunge” melancholy, and current “indie-rock” backbeats and guitar leads. Nice.

No additional background information other than there webpage and myspace page but they sound worth listening to. Second new band I have found here in a week – cheers
Coach
Holy crap. I JUST discovered these guys (I mean, like yesterday). They’re quite good. But – holy crap #2 – I totally didn’t picture that guy to be what the voice looks like. Weird.
Sorry for not visiting much. I just wasted two days on my last post, and it was fairly exhausting.
And I’m, like, totally sorry for using like and totally above. And just then.
Like, totally.
I’ll shut up now.
I love love LOVE these guys. My younger brother introduced me to them a few months ago…since then I’ve been hearing Lazy Eye on the radio often.
