Old School Funk, Earth Wind & Fire
I was only a kid when these guys were popular, but my sister, who’s about 40-50 years older than I (juuuuust kidding, sis), had this album and I distinctly remember hanging out in her room while she was listening to this and doing that whole “little kid dancing with older sibling” thing. Later on, I also distinctly “borrowing” her Earth Wind & Fire album on occasion (as well as her “Kiss Destroyer” album – “Detroit Rock City” rocks!!). Great stuff still.
Earth Wind & Fire- September
P.S. It’s amazing, I have a whole list of newer songs I want to publicize to the 10 people who read this blog, but somehow some other song I remember from the past always makes it up first.
P.P.S. Does anyone else remember the made for TV movie from the late-70′s, “Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Amusement Park”? How come they don’t make classics like that anymore?

I’ve never been a big fan of EW&F until my wife dragged me to a concert about a year agoP. WOW! Those guys freekin rock out! I’ve seen Pink Floyd, U2, Grateful Dead, YES, Phish and a bunch of other legendary live acts so I wasn’t expecting much from what I thought was a bunch of has-been studio musicians… boy was I wrong. Those guys are seriously, some of the best live musicians I’ve seen. The stuff they were playing wasn’t easy either. They were jamming out, and laying down some serious funk. I couldn’t believe how well they sounded and played. AND… They played for a long time. For me… It was a total shock. If you ever get a chance to see them, you should go.
Definitely. Thanks mate.
