Massive Attack – Protection

Published by A Bowl Of Stupid at 8:49 am under Arts & Entertainment,Music

Massive Attack is another band I personally include in the same make and model of Zero 7 and Thievery Corporation. Their music is electronic and combines elements of jazz, hip hop, rock, and classical into music that is often named as trip-hop and other genres, although their later work involved darker, subtler forms of electronic music. Massive Attack has also been around for much longer than many of their “trip-hop” contemporaries.

This particular video is off their extremely progressive 1994 album “Protection,” which was released when I was still admittedly swaddled in flannel, torn jeans, and big ol’ Doc Martins.

Both this video – the title track, “Protection” – and “Better Things” feature Tracey Thorn, the singer from “Everything But The Girl.” Although it’s an older piece, I’m posting it because (1) it holds a special place in my heart for reasons I choose not to disclose here, and (2) as pointed out previously, it’s my damn blog and I can write about whatever the hell I please. (insert pleasant smiley-faced emocom here).
