Where is that famous stiff upper ip the British are known for? Oh yeah, hard to maintain when everything is collapsing. (And yes, I know it’s a fake but the real covers aren’t any more reassuring).

    Matt,

I think your title is very significant in that the times we are going through right now are very much like the fall of the Roman Empire. I have used this analogy quite often lately. Especially when comparing the outsourcing of labor in America to when the Romans employed mercenaries to fight their wars. Once again, history repeats itself. This is nothing new, just done already on another continent. I’m sure you are quite thanking your lucky stars that you don’t have to be entrenched in all the media rhetoric concerning these affairs state side. It’s enough to make me want to move to another country. Stay well my friend.

    Curious,
Umm … whaddaya mean the cover’s a fake?

    Philly,
Actually, it’s pretty funny. The NYTimes ran an editorial from 1990 — right after the last collapse — and if you changed the names it would be entirely applicable to the current situation. Way to learn from mistakes, huh? Thanks for the well wishes, and you stay well too. Good to hear from you.
