Fresh Ink — The ‘Sak Yant’ Edition (UPDATE)

Okay, for anyone interested — here are a couple of pictures of the new Sak Yant tattoo I got yesterday.

And with respect to the question posed by Girl With Curious Hair as to sanitary issues — although TK has welcomed me to the wonderful world of tetanus … personally, I'm not all that concerned about the needle (read: spear) they used for the tattoo, I'm pretty sure the snake venom took care of anything bad.

Plus, according to the latest news, now I've got to worry about the communist rebels that killed a couple cops in the small Philippino surfing/fishing villiage that I'm leaving for in about 6 hours — so any potential blood infection may be the least of my concerns.

Fear Of A “Matt” Planet — Part II

(Rote, Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia)

Okay, I put up on my Flickr Account the first batch of new picture from Rote, for those of you that still give a crap (which pretty much comes down to Manny and the other random stragglers that accuse me of plagiarism … on the Internet! — don't worry I'll get to that …).

I'm leaving Bali in the next couple hours back through Jakarta, and then back to Bangkok later tonight. Home sweet home … such as it is.

I'll be there a couple of weeks before leaving for the Philippines … at this point, probably for the remainder of the summer. We'll see how it goes, right?

Finally, for everyone that wrote to me (both publicly and privately) during the last few weeks while I was away, I plan on doing a 'group response post' — addressing each of the comments, suggestions, compliments, and, in one case, an interesting 'call out' on some television script writing I 'borrowed' from (ahem) about 200 months back.

To all of you (including you, Pat), thanks for taking notice, and hopefully I'll give y'all something else good to get pissed off about soon enough. Until then, just chill out and take a look at the photos from Rote (which I ALSO stole … hahahaha!).

Hold On, Where The Fuck Am I Again?

joe_pesci2.jpg

"Relax Tommy, … yeah, this is still that same unfunny, piece-of shit website we always look at."

In preparation for my imminent return to Asia, I need to get some very important things out of the way before I leave the States. And although some would say that paying off my back taxes and getting this nasty rash taken care of would probably take precedent, I thought it more important to finally upload my photos onto my Flickr account, and change the theme of this site so you fuckers would be able to have better access to my whereabouts, ramblings, and said pictures after I leave.

I'm nothing if not inconsiderate like that.

Yeah, I know, I know … dance, monkey, dance.

The Photography of Tim McKenna

I've been asked where in the world is the break that's posted above as my main site header. That is from a place in French Polynesia known as "Tuamotu". French Polynesia is composed of hundreds of islands and atolls. The remote Tuamotu Archipelago to the north east of Tahiti is not a common destination because of its remoteness and lack of tourist facilities. Nonetheless, it is home to some of the best, uncrowded surf spots to be found anywhere.

This photo was taken in 2005 during one of the large northerly swells, using a panoramic camera. It is among the many, many, maaaaaany absolutely stunning photos contained in the portfolio of Tim McKenna, probably the best surf and outdoor photographer in the world.

If you are seeking a true vision of paradise, I urge you to look at Mr. McKenna's portfolio. His photos are some of the most compelling evidence that paradise does exist on Earth. His sense of color, shading, blocking and, of course, the subject matter often defy description.

Some of his photos bring tears to my eyes. Like this one of Teahupoo (pronounced "Cho-poo"), probably the most beautiful wave in the world.
